Buying, investing, saving, from an early age economics is taught as if it’s written in stone. People have come to associate self-worth with the ledger of their bank account. All the while those that aren’t privileged enough to compete within this system are left by the wayside.
Individual identity has become intertwined with economics. To some they have become what they own. Fortunately, some have found ways to distant and combat the systems in place by contributing less to consumerism and more to self-empowering communities through D.I.Y. methods.
As best we can, non-participation is a small but significant method to create an alternative to being lost in the cogs of consumer capitalism.

lyrics
I’ve been spending most my life looking for something true, you know. And it aint in plastic shrink wrap wrapper or a bigger home.
I’ve been looking for answers, aint quite sure they exist,
like why we trade in paradise for trinkets and credit slips.
Oh, its gonna roll, its gonna roll for miles and miles, it’s gonna roll till there aint no place to go.
I’ve got friends that can barely fuckin exist.
They gotta beg for scraps and some rich white mans gonna shame them for this.
Some guys gonna tell you how he worked hard all his life woah, only you got worked hard while his inherited dollars doubled.
Oh, its gonna roll, its gonna roll for miles and miles, it’s gonna roll till there aint no place to go.
We buy shit that are peers made for us (for us).
We’ve been convinced to buy by the signs the advertisements seen on the bus.
And when we start to get smart and yeah we back away.
We get told our dollars are the only thing that makes any change.
Yeah, its gonna roll, its gonna roll for miles and miles, it’s gonna roll till there aint no place to go. X2
