When I got sober and finally started asking people for help one of the main things I heard was that if I wasn’t actively growing than I was actively dying. It was through the willingness to look at some of the things about myself that were causing people around me pain that I finally learned to grow. It was by realizing that sometimes I was wrong that I found peace in my own life. I try and practice this in my life today. I want to give people around me the same opportunities I have been given to change. For me it’s important to realize that I have been wrong too many times in my life to count, and when dealing with people it’s pretty likely that many of the concepts that have changed me have never been presented to them. Communities cannot flourish without giving people the tools they need to change. Our pride will keep us from the communities that we want to build.
